"A Scout is Thrifty"

At Troop 36, we believe that cost should never be a barrier to Scouting. However, we also believe that Scouts should work to earn their own way. By participating in money-earning projects, our Scouts learn:

• Self-Reliance: Understanding that adventures require resources and effort.

• Public Speaking: Learning to look an adult in the eye and explain a product or cause.

• Financial Responsibility: Managing inventory, handling money, and budgeting for trips.

Your support of our fundraisers directly subsidizes summer camp, maintains our patrol gear (tents, stoves), and keeps our monthly dues affordable for every family in Mashpee.

Our Annual Campaigns

1. Year-Round Bottle & Can Drive

Recycle with us! 

Our primary ongoing fundraiser is our bottle and can collection. It is a simple way to support the troop while keeping our community clean.

• Where: The Mashpee Transfer Station (Look for the Troop 36 collection shed).

• When: Year-round, whenever the Transfer Station is open.

• What We Collect: Clean, returnable bottles and cans (MA 5¢ deposit).

• How it Helps: 100% of the proceeds go toward equipment maintenance and campouts.

Next time you head to the dump, please bring your returnables to the Troop 36 shed!

2. Popcorn Sale (Fall)

The Classic Scouting Tradition. 

Every autumn, you’ll see our Scouts at storefronts around Mashpee and selling door-to-door. This is our biggest push to fund the program year. Over 70% of the sale price stays with local Scouting.

• Dates: September – October

• How to Support: Look for us outside local businesses or ask a Scout for a link to their online store.

Compliance Note

Per Scouting America policies, Troop 36 cannot solicit or accept direct cash donations. We are funded strictly through dues and approved money-earning projects like the ones listed above. Thank you for supporting our Scouts by participating in these services!
