Join Troop 36: Your Checklist

Ready to start the adventure? We’ve made the process simple. Follow these steps to become an official member of Troop 36 in Mashpee.

Step 1. Come Visit a Meeting

The best way to see if we are the right fit is to see the Scouts in action.

When: We meet on Wednesdays from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm.
Where: Christ the King Parish Hall, 5 Job's Fishing Rd, Mashpee, MA 02649
What to Expect: Your son can participate in the evening’s activity while parents meet with leadership to ask questions. No pressure, just come say hello!

Step 2. Submit Your Application

Once you’re ready to commit to joining our Troop, you need to register with Scouting America (formerly BSA).

Online (Fastest): Go to BeAScout.org, search for zip code 02649, and look for Troop 36. Click "Apply Now" to handle the national registration fee securely online.
Paper Application: Prefer paper? Ask us for a Youth Application form at the next meeting.

Step 3. Complete Medical Forms

For the safety of all Scouts, every participant must have a current Annual Health and Medical Record on file.

Parts A & B: Required for all regular meetings and weekend campouts (Health history & consent).
Part C: Required for Summer Camp (requires a doctor’s signature).
Please turn these into our Health Officer or Scoutmaster as soon as possible.

Step 4. Get the Gear

You don’t need everything on day one, but here are the essentials to get started. The Uniform, Handbook, and some camping basics can be purchased at the Cape and Islands Council Scout Shop in Yarmouth.

The Uniform (Class A): Tan Scout shirt, olive green pants/shorts, and the Troop 36 neckerchief.
The Handbook: The Scouts BSA Handbook for Boys (this is their textbook for advancement).
Camping Basics: Sleeping bag, sleeping pad, and a mess kit.

Step 5. Get Connected

BAND App: Download the BAND App and request to join the Troop 36 group here: https://band.us/n/aea9AfVeJ391X.
Scoutbook: Look for an email invite to Scoutbook, our online tool for tracking rank advancement and merit badges.
Troop Calendar: Sync our calendar to your phone so you never miss a trip.
